Witham Rugby Club must always look to improve and develop. This page shows what projects are being thought about, are under way or might be nearing completion. If you see a project for which you have the knowledge, skills or expertise we will need, please contact the person(s) associated with that project, or the Project Co-ordinator. Any help or advice will always be gratefully received and appreciated. If you work for a company that may be of use to a project, again please get in touch. Contacts: Projects Co-ordinator is Dean Wells. Projects at a Glance: Heating / Plumbing Gents toilets Container Fencing Club Fascias Shutters Floodlighting |
Current Projects list: Heating / Plumbing Before considering any development of the clubhouse, it is essential that the heating system, along with the hot water systems are up dated. This would be a major task, for which the club will have to look to professionals to provide some viable options with quotes for the completion of the work. If you know anyone in this line of business, please help us and them to get in touch! Stage: Still a proposal. One quote has been requested but has not yet been received. Other quotes welcome. Gents toilets The gents toilets have been completely decorated. They now look a lot better and need to be kept that way. Focus may now need to shift to increasing the toilet facilities currently on site. Stage: Decorations completed. Container In order to accommodate growing numbers, the Junior section have decided to convert one of the lorry containers in the car park into extra changing facilities. This would also provide additional storage space for the Juniors equipment. Stage: Nearing completion The changing area has been completed. All that remains is to partition the proposed storage area. A date needs to be agreed for the completion of this work. Better weather will be needed so a date towards the end of the 2008-2009 season will be agreed. Club Fascias Thanks to the club’s dealings with local businesses, this has been completed. With the fascias giving the clubhouse a better overall appearance, this may encourage further improvements around the clubhouse and grounds. StageStill a thought |
Fencing The entire grounds need to be fenced off. Irresponsible dog walkers (as always, only a few wrong-doers make the fraternity look bad) and unwanted visitors leave a variety of unwelcome waste on our pitches. This, along with vandalism to the clubhouse, containers and occasionally vehicles make a secure fence highly desirable in advance of external improvements. Either side of entry gate Stage: Needs a new start Shutters The front doors, door to the changing rooms and central fire exit doors need protection. Rather than fitting ugly metal-plated doors, it has been suggested that roller shutters are fitted. These would give the security needed, whilst looking less unattractive once opened. Stage: Awaiting quotes. Floodlighting As nights draw in, midweek training sessions become confined to the areas best lit by our current lighting. The ground gets badly churned during wet weather and doesn’t recover through the season. By adding a couple more posts, with lights, replacing vandalised units and possibly upgrading the power of current units, we aim to expand the usable areas. Cabling for additional posts is in place. Stage: Awaiting Quote from RAM |
