Friday 15th September 2023 Witham Rugby Club's U13 team hosted Saffron Walden u13's for the first floodlit match under our new floodlights.

This was the first time Witham had played Saffron Walden at this age and what a game it was.

Witham kicked off deep into the Saffron Walden half. With some great pressure by Witham, we held them in their half for some time. With a great break down the right wing Saffron Walden scored in the corner. With more pressure from the opposition, they were able to score another few try's in the first half.

The half time break saw the Witham boys re-group following some positive instructions from coaches Lee, Craig & Ricky.

The second half was a completely different game, the Witham boys put in a huge shift and showed some amazing tackling in defense & some fantastic attacking opportunities. With a wonderfully placed cross field kick by skipper Max and a superb pick up by winger Raigardas, Witham scored in the corner.

Witham unfortunately could not improve on this score but we're able to keep Saffron Walden from scoring in the second half

The U13's had such a great night with a very large crowd cheering them on including some of our senior players in attendance.

All players from both teams spent time together after the game, eating their match food and celebrating the game. Withams player of the week was Dara for his huge effort and yards made. Big hitter of the week went to kaiden for the amount of tackles made and spooner of the week went to Raigardas dropping the ball over the try line.

Witham are always looking for players, we have teams from U6 to Adults; Boys. Girls, Men & Women.
