This was the Juniors first home game of season, and every age group gave it their all, Maldon are always tough competition, well drilled and also have a much larger junior section than Witham. Our 3 youngest age groups fielded two teams each which is an amazing achievement.

No scores are kept at this age, but it was fairly even for most age groups. The weather held out and it was buzzing inside the clubhouse afterwards. Thank you to Maldon for joining us.

The coaches were all very pleased with their teams a few highlights are included below.

Under 7's
Massive effort, very fair, evenly matched teams with some extremely good rugby from both sides. Played in good spirits. Witham showing some good skills and good improvement in key areas. All round great performance with some stand out performances. Plenty of tries from both sides. 2 very happy teams and proud coaches on both sides.

Under 8's
The training really came together for the under 8’s, with passing, runs and tagging all off the scale, but the standout was the teamwork, they supported, they cheered, they worked together from those who have been there years to those who were in their first few weeks.

Under 9’s
With great numbers 14 players available we managed to field 2 sides today.
Our second game of contact rugby and the kids are really starting to thrive and gain the true spirit of rugby. The huddle before the game through to fist bumps and “hip hip hoorays” for the opposition after the games had finished.
Our two teams performed really well against a very well drilled Maldon side who have obviously been playing lots of contact games. Some of our players really stepped up and tackled their hearts out while others took smaller steps towards being our next Jonah Lomu. Some great trys scored by both of our teams.

Under 10's – 12's
The older age groups had a more difficult day, Maldon are a tough team to crack, and today was no exception. From the outset, Maldon set out how they were going to play. Some excellent individual skills from all teams, but it was not Witham's day today. Lots of positives to take away, but clear we have some areas to work on.
