On Thursday 23rd November, Witham Rugby club organised and hosted a local school tag rugby tournament for Years 5 & 6. 12 teams from 11 schools attended from Witham, Kelvedon, Coggeshall, Tiptree and Braintree areas. 96 children put on their boots and played their hearts out.

The event was a huge success with Kelvedon St Mary’s ‘A’ taking the winning trophy in a furiously contested final against Silver End.

The children, some of whom had never picked up an egg shaped ball on the pitch, all did tremendously well, with some amazing potential shown. The club hopes that this sparks an interest in some of the children to continue with Rugby outside of school.
