Witham struck first on 14 minutes when Harvey Clements powered over the line, with Sam Wilkinson adding the conversion for a 7–0 lead. Writtle responded on the half-hour mark with a try of their own, but the conversion drifted wide, keeping Witham ahead at the break.
Just after halftime, Witham came out firing once more — Frank Avitabile smashing through to score, with Wilkinson again adding the extras to extend the lead to 14–5.
