

Witham rugby club hosted local rivals Braintree in the first round of the Essex U13 Waterfall Cup. Playing at home on the clubs 1st team pitch with the sun shining looked to be perfect conditions for cup rugby.
Witham kicked off deep into the Braintree half, with lots of pressure from Witham being put on the Braintree side. With some fantastic back and fourth play, Witham were able to get the ball out wide to winger Raigardas Enduriz who scored Witham's first try after 5mins.
Braintree came back hard pushing Witham deep into their own half. Witham's defence was fantastic, but with mounting attack play saw Braintree level the score on the 14th minute.
Just before the end of the first half, winger Raigardas Enduruz ran in for his 2nd try of the game. Making the half time score 10 to 5 to Witham.
Braintree kicked off the 2nd half fighting their hardest to get back into the game. With increased pressure by Braintree they were able to score 2 try’s in 5 mins bringing the score to 15 to 10 to Braintree.
Witham now had the clock running out and were down by 1 try. Witham really showed character and able to run in two more try’s the first by Thomas Jenkins and the second by Gwynfor Pritchard, who picked up an amazing interception to run half the pitch to score
Final score was 20 to 15 to Witham. Coaches Lee Bywater, Craig Watson & Ricky Simpkin could not be prouder of the boys and the way the whole squad have improved over the last few weeks.
