With only 12 players available, Witham put in a gutsy performance to earn this win.

Even though only 12 players were available, the team trecked all the way to Letchworth with confidence. Luckily, in this league, numbers are matched but with no subs, these players knew they were in for a tough outing.
Letchworth kicked off and managed to pin Witham in their own half until Yngvi sent a clearance kick over the half way. Witham put the pressure on and several phases got us close to the line. Strong runs by Steph and then Nikita were halted but Thorey ripped the ball and forced her way over the line to open the scoring. Witham were starting to dominate and a clever chip and chase saw Liesz gallop through for the first of her 2 tries. Following the conversion by Yngvi, the home restart put them deep into Witham territory. A couple of crunching tackles initially stopped them but they kept coming and eventually broke through to score. Witham were varying the attack between the backs and forwards stretching the defence. Liesz spotted space behind their lines and kicked towards the corner. The chase by Sarah made sure the defender had to play it and Witham had a lineout 10m from the line. The forwards executed their training move with Jane catching the8 throw and setting a ruck which the pack moved forwards. At just the right time, Chloe broke off to beat the winger and score.
Half time Letchworth 5 Witham 17
With no subs, Witham knew they were in for a tough second half and it really was. Letchworth threw everything at Witham but just couldn't break through. When their forwards tried to break through, they were getting knocked by by Jodie and Thorey. Meanwhile, Gemma was chasing down their backs as if she was a back herself. When Witham finally got into the other half, a series of bruising pods got them into the 22. But when Tina saw the time was right, she sent the ball to the backs for Liesz to score. The home side never gave in and with the final play of the game they forced their way over to give a final score of 12 - 22. Credit goes to Witham's captain. Emma kept the troops going and led from the front the whole game through. Next match is Braintree at home so let's get loads of support for our fantastic ladies.
