Away to Braintree III

For the first time in well over 20 years Witham fielded a 3rd XV against Braintree 3s.

Conditions were not the greatest and the weather was horrendous, but both teams went out and put on an amazing game.

Braintree pressured Witham from the start and scored a few quick tries. Some amazing tackling from Witham held Braintree followed by some good passages of play from the Witham lads kept pushing Braintree back. In some very testing conditions we held our own for many parts in the game, knitting together some good phases of play.

Some great play from a well drilled Braintree team saw them take control of the game eventually winning 63-0

Unfortunately not a win for the Witham boys today but the team mixed of a few veteran players, some that have come back from injury and some that haven't played much, played with heart, determination and spirit. Everyone of the chaps came off with a smile on their faces.

The game against Braintree is always played in the spirit of the game, it was a great example of how a friendly game should be played. A massive thank you to all the Witham players for pulling the shirt on and making this club what it is. A massive achievement for Witham Rugby Club this Saturday fielding 3 senior mens teams on a mucky saturday afternoon.
